Foster Friends

Maggie - Karina's Princess Maggie CD

Maggie was found on the streets near Friendswood, where animal control picked her up.  Jo Ann Hoffpauir of the Greater Houston Keeshond Club (GHKC) was called to she if this little girl could be saved.  Jo Ann got her out and I became her foster mom.   She got along with my fuzzies and kitties.  She was afraid of fireworks as I learned on the 4th of July.  I was already in contact with someone who was interested in her.  After talking with Cindy several times, I got a warm and fuzzy feeling that this was Maggie's new home.  Brenda Hayosh was kind enough to do the home visit and everything was great there.  So, one Saturday, I loaded Maggie and Astro up in the truck and we went to San Antonio to visit Cindy.  Well, let's just say, I came home shy one fuzzy.  Maggie is doing great in her new home. She's is mom's special little girl. She is becoming the Princess she deserves. She is getting along famously with her new brothers, Willy (terrier mix), Misha (Siberian Husky) and Fidel (cat). She has got this adorably habit of curling up in her mom's lap and falling asleep while mom watches TV.  And - to make me even prouder, Cindy got Maggie's ILP and honored me by using my kennel name.  AND THEN - Cindy and Ms. Maggie went on and got a CD!!!

Furby - formerly know as Kirby

Kirby boy was found by the Astrodome near Kirby Drive, hence his name. He was either thrown from a pickup truck or jump out. He laid under a tree for awhile, and it seemed that he was waiting for his owner to come back. Well, he never did and Jo Ann was called. She picked Kirby up and the Cobbs fostered him for three weeks. During this time, Kirby was evaluated as being from 7-10 years old, neutered, heartworm negative, beginning stages of bi-lateral cataracts, tapeworm positive and having an abscess on his tail. His tapeworm was treated and the abscess was removed. He was having problems with his rear but that was attributed him thrown/jumped form the truck. I got Kirby after that and took him to my vet. Kirby also has arthritis. He also has an incontinence problem that can be controlled with medication. Kirby is a very sweet boy that just wants to be loved upon. He likes my other fuzzies and the kitties. He still likes the girls as Paige can attest to. FLASH  - Kirby has found a home. Gerri is his new mom and is amazed on well behaved he is. She did tell me that Kirby missed me for the first couple of days because he slept on the spot where I was sitting for the next two nights. By the 3rd night, he was sleeping in Gerri's room and following his new mom around. Kirby is trying to make friends with Wally, a 15+ years old poodle, but Wally is being difficult. Kirby will win him over. Gerri's daughter is also in love with Kirby. Kirby will be a spoiled pet that will get to go to work with Gerri. Kirby managed to loose 10 + pounds while he was in foster care. He has a couple of more pounds to go.

Sadly - Furby is now at the Rainbow Bridge.  But Gerri gave him a wonderful home for over 2 years.

Tonka and Prancer

This brother sister pair was as left at the vets to be put to sleep. This bother and sister pair are amazingly well adjusted and very sweet.  Poor Tonka was full of mats and dead hair. It took over 7 hours to brush him out. Tonka is in good health but slightly over weight.  Prancer is being treated for heartworms and had a problem with her skin/coat. She was treated for her skin/coat problem, and it took a while for her coat to grow back in. She is a sweet girl with a wonderful attitude.  Both Tonka and Prancer are in new homes and are being spoiled and loved upon.

Ashleigh - picture with his Newfie brothers & sisters

Pookie AKA Ashleigh formerly known as Smokee is a youngster that was put in the Montgomery Animal shelter because he barked too much. Very loving but is a wild child. He loves to chase the cats (he wants to play with them) He gets along well with my boys - but does need to learn his manners.  He does like to talk. Typical kee pup - full of energy, loves to play. Smokee is now living with new moms and has newfie sister and brother. They love that he barks and think he is wonderful. He is wearing out his new brother and just loves his new sister.  He learned how the weave poles in 10 minutes.

Riley

Riley - formerly known as Chester was turned over from the  Houston Humane Society.  Poor Chester had heartworms.  He was successfully treated.   Chester is very energetic, loving, runs in circles like to bounce up and down in one place.  He is one of the smallest boys that I have seen. Like to play with my boys and wants to play with the cats. At first I didn't think he barked, but as he has settle in, he has found his voice.  Riley now lives in Seattle with his new mom.  He is lapping up all the attention and even the cats like him now.

Brinker - Karina's Hans Brinker CD

Brinker was at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter.  Due to over 150 Labs needing rescuing, the shelter was full and Brinker was in danger of being put to sleep.  I was unable to get to him out by the deadline , so Marie Devaney (Second Time Around Aussie Rescue, Inc. & English Springer Rescue America, Inc.) volunteered to get Brinker out and  I went to get him that night.  I had Brinker for about 3 weeks, I was only his temporary foster.  Cindy was going to foster him until she found him a new home.   Brinker's first adoption didn't work out.  To say the least, when he came back to Cindy, he had forgotten everything he had learned at my house & hers.  He was a cat chaser again and was now terrified of getting his nails done.  Well, after a week or so, Cindy decided he was going to stay with her.  So Brinker boy now lives with Cindy, Ms. Maggie, Fidel, Willy & Misha.  He's going to obedience & agility training - but is still a sweet lovable knucklhead.

Brink got his last legs at the San Antonio shows July 2003 for his CD.  His next goal is a CDX!

Sage at 8 months  - She loves her crate!

Sage on her 1st Birthday!

Sage

Was born on Jan 25, 2003 to Madison. Madison was left behind with two other kees when her owner/foster mom left one day.  Sage was out of a litter of 6.  She and her brother Carver look like German Shepherds, two other sisters have a golden color coat with black face masks, one looks like a rottie with long tail and stand up ears and the last one is complete black except for a white spot on his chest.  You would never guess that their Momma (Madison) was a full blooded kees.  Sage is now living with her new mom and dad.  She is the Princess of the house, she can't acquire the Queen title as her feline sister Scout has that one :)

I'm a leggy boy who loves to play frisbee and jumping over things!

Carver at the lake

Carver

He is Sage's brother and he looks like a German Shepherd (we think he got his looks from his dad).  He is living with his new mom and dad.  They fell in love with him while they were living in Iowa.  They were moving to Houston and knew that they would love to have a dog again.  Carver is growing up into a beautiful boy.  Mom is taking him to obedience class and when he wants to be - he's the STAR of the class.
