Placement
Policy for Karina Dogs and Puppies
- We only
breed a litter when we plan on keeping a show puppy for
ourselves. When it comes to placing a puppy in a companion home,
we will determine which puppy may be best suited for your family.
- In order
to be placed on our puppy waiting list, you must fill out a Karina
Keeshonden Puppy Buyer Questionnaire - Word or Karina
Keeshonden Puppy Buyer Questionnaire - PDF.
- The Breeder retains
the RIGHT OF REFUSAL at all
times. References will be CHECKED.
- Once a
litter has been whelped, depending on the number
of individuals/families showing interest in the puppies, we may
request
that a non-refundable deposit be made.
- Prospective
new families must be willing to have a home check performed either by
the breeder or the breeder's representative.
- All
companion puppies are sold on a spay/neutered contract and on
American Kennel Club (AKC) Limited Registration. The AKC
registration papers will not be signed over to the new families until
the breeder receives proof of spay/neutering. Puppies must be
spayed/neutered before they reach their first birthday.
- All adult
dogs will be spayed/neutered before being placed.
- Potential
new families must be able to provide for adequate veterinary care
(which includes but is not limited to: monthly heart worm preventative,
vaccinations, flea prevention, rabies vaccination etc...)
- Potential
new families must be willing to follow the advice of the breeder in
regards to proper nutrition, grooming, socialization and training.
- Karina
Keeshonden will not place 2 puppies in the same household.
- Karina
Keeshonden will not place a puppy/dog where there are currently more
than 2 other dogs in residence.
- Puppies
are not allowed to go to their new homes until they are at
least 8 weeks old.
- No puppies
will be placed in their new homes during the Christmas Holidays
- AT NO TIME
must said puppy/dog be left alone/un-supervised in the backyard.
- Backyards
of new families must be fully fenced and safe for both puppy and adult
Keeshonden.
- Prospective
new families must
be prepared to make the puppy/dog part of the family, not just a
backyard
accessory. Keeshonden DO NOT respond to being dumped in
backyards.
- If, for
whatever reason, you cannot keep your puppy/dog, you must contact the
breeder and advise them IMMEDIATELY.
Under no circumstances are you to "re-sell" your puppy/dog or turn the
puppy/dog over to a rescue group, shelter or animal control.
- You must
be prepared to maintain contact with us to ensure that you have the
support and guidance needed to bring up a healthy, happy and well
adjusted Keeshond.
- Any
support or advice required will be happily provided by us, or through
another reputable Keeshond breeder (as recommended by us)
